STORY 1

Our Own Aeroplane

There is a village school, vacant and devastate that is used as playground by village children in the mornings and in evenings. It remains like a bhootbangla in afternoons.
Generally, you could find no one here this time even an animal. However today a man standing there at a distance from the school, watching the surroundings as recalling something. This person used to be the headmaster of the school a year back.
He is still the headmaster but now he does not master anyone. He is watching the ruined school as one of his own relatives has been
He steps forward, starts wandering in to the campus, goes into the classes having roofs with unwanted windows, recalls the past …………”there was a time when there were students and he used to teach” but now he is standing all alone here……..he is having the tag of the “head master” but he doesn’t head anybody.
Greif hijacked him….he tries to balance himself and walks to another classroom.
He was astonished at sudden, stops at the door….muttered in himself…

HM: what this child doing here all alone, he sees him for a while… (The child does not notice him unless the head master breaks his silence.)

HM: what are you doing here?
(The boy startled but kept silence and start making drawing again.)
HM: (goes near to him)
I asked…What are you doing here? (Sees his drawing attentively)

Boy: “putting my dreams on the ground of reality.”
HM: “Dreams! Umm you want to be a painter, right?”
Boy: “Yes I want to be a painter, who, one day will paint his life with the colours of shine.”
HM: “Sorry!”
Boy: sit…
(The headmasters sit besides the boy.)
(The boy draws a circle and asks the HM…)

Boy: “What is this?”
HM: the circle
Boy: shades the circle with chalk and ask
“Now?”
HM: may be a sphere…

(The boy makes some darker spots than the shade in the circle and asks again)

Boy: - “Now tell me what this is?”
HM: “looking like the moon…”

Boy: “Exactly it is moon.”
HM: So?
Boy: I want to go on to the moon.
(now the headmaster takes the child’s talks childish, he starts talking him humorously)

HM: “But moon is very far how will you go there?”

Boy: “When the aero plane will come in our village I will go to the moon. Can aero plane take me to the moon?”

HM: “Ummmm!!! May be…...do you want to meet fairies or your girlfriend lives there?”
(He laughes on his own joke, but the child remains silent because he don’t know anything about fairies and girlfriend, he sees the headmaster frowning his brows)

HM: “Ok! Tell me seriously why you want to go to the moon?”

Boy: “I will tell you if you will not laugh again …”
HM: “Ok I promise…...
Boy: I want to go school, want to study, and want to be a man like Pratham Babu. I asked maa, she said, “there is no school in our village but a ruined one”… If I want to study, I would have to go to the moon because only there are schools. However, the moon is too far. Only the aeroplane can take me there …But we cannot afford the aeroplane fare as what my mother earns goes in food.

(The headmaster listen him carefully and seriously listens to boy, boy continues)

I heard it somewhere when you wish something with true heart God fulfills it. And also that every school is temple where the God lives…..I use to come here daily…..I use to make an aero plane daily wishing that God will make them real one day….and I would be able to reach the moon and could study in a Scholl.

However, GOD never listen me…

(His voice choked with grief, he stops at a sudden ……..the HM becomes emotional too, the silence of grief and underprivileged child spreads around, after a moment boy breaks the silent. )
Boy: “Are you GOD?”
HM: - “No son I am a teacher.”
Boy: “A TEACHER!” (Boy’s every nerve fills with alacrity)
HM: Yes, a Teacher…I will bring you to the moon of knowledge…
“Let’s go…”
“We will not wait for the aero plane to come”
“We will make it our own…”

(The head master starts teaching to the boy right from that day. After 18 years of rigorous hard work, the boy becomes an astronaut.)
